One Step Closer to Manned Mars Mission

The SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch Tuesday afternoon sent a next-generation, heavy-lift rocket toward space from Florida’s Space Coast, touching off what could become a heated competition for contracts with rivals.

“Go Falcon Heavy,” a launch announcer said as the craft left Launch Pad 39A. At 3:45 p.m., about 2 hours and 15 minutes after had been originally planned, the Falcon Heavy’s three rocket boosters fired up and sent the rockets into the sky . . .
