      SUBMISSIONS
ORBITER welcomes well-written non-fiction that reflects the site’s mission. A familiarity with what we have published so far is the best guide to what we’re looking for. Manuscripts should be submitted, in English, as a Word document or PDF; shorter pieces can be included in the body of the email. We discourage footnotes. Submissions should include author information. All submissions will be reviewed by ORBITER’s editors but we cannot guarantee a response in every case. We do not publish fiction or poetry. In some cases, previously published material may be acceptable.
Blog posts typically run from 500-750 words, while articles can be up to 3,500 words. In all cases, jargon should be avoided. A cover note giving a brief summary of the article or blog post should be included, along with the author’s contact and biographical information.

      CATEGORIES
In particular, we welcome pitches in the following categories:

      • Personal essays by professional scientists and philosophers on the search for answers to life’s big questions
      • Excerpts from newly published books that address questions of science and meaning (no self-published work, please)
      • Interviews with researchers and scientists (including graduate students) on current work that sheds light on the human condition

We also welcome pitches from writers interested in being regular contributors of blogs or articles.

To pitch a story idea to ORBITER, send a brief cover note and attached file (Word or PDF) to orbitermag@polymath.io.
